On the bus again

I’m on the school bus again, but I don’t mind. I love school, learning, and being a nerd. Some of my classmates make fun of me, but I don’t care. I used to get bullied because of my glasses, but now they know better than to mess with me, because I’ve been taking karate classes at the Boy’s and Girl’s club since I was 5.

I think I’m better than they are because I study karate just like I study everything else, and I practice just like my sensei Sean teaches us. He calls me “Jet” because of my initials. Since it’s my “dojo name,” the other kids in my class call me Jet, too.

Mom didn’t know what to make of what happened to me last night when I told her — especially since I can see better without my glasses now. She knows I always tell the truth, but she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary on me or in the back yard around my spot. Even the puddle was gone. She just told me to let her know if I started feeling badly, but I haven’t.

I’ve actually been feeling really good since last night. Besides seeing better, everything sounds a little louder, smells more intense, and food tastes better. The weirdest part is that my afro keeps its shape! I know! Right? It’s SO weird, but after I showered and shampooed this morning, I didn’t have to do a thing to it! Usually my mom has to shape it for me with my pick, but she said I did a good job for a change. I hadn’t done anything to it!

We’re here! Good ole Easley Elementary School.
